Ipswich Town Pastors

Ipswich Town Pastors set up the first Town Pastor scheme in Suffolk in 2006, pioneering this valuable community service in the region.

About the Scheme

As the founding scheme, Ipswich Town Pastors have led the way and supported the establishment of other schemes across Suffolk and Norfolk.

Our experienced team of Christian volunteers continues to serve the town centre of Ipswich, Suffolk’s county town, every weekend.

What We Do

Ipswich Town Pastors go out on the streets of Ipswich each Friday and Saturday night, looking out for people who may have drunk too much or have got themselves into difficulties or who are vulnerable. Our main work is to keep people safe until help arrives, or get them to a taxi.

Get Involved

We’re always looking for new volunteers. Whether you can give a few hours a month or want to be more involved, we’d love to hear from you.

We are in no doubt that there is a need for Town Pastors on the streets of Ipswich. Since Ipswich Town pastors was started in the wild weekends of a generation ago things have quietened down somewhat, but not completely. We still encounter people in need of care and, in some cases, protection by our simply being there.
