Supporting Those in Need
Town Pastors provide practical support to people in town centres who need help. Our volunteers are trained to recognize when someone needs assistance and to respond appropriately.
What We Do
Water and Refreshments
We provide water to dehydrated people, which is especially important during hot weather or when people have been drinking alcohol.
We’ve also usually got chocolate with us to provide people with a little energy boost, or just to bring a smile when it might be needed.
Helping People Get Home
We help people find safe transport home, whether that’s:
- Calling a taxi
- Waiting with someone until their ride arrives
- Directing people to public transport
- Contacting friends or family
Waiting with Vulnerable People
If someone is vulnerable or distressed, we stay with them until they’re reunited with friends or family, they’re safe to make their way home or we can hand them over to the care of someone who can give them the further assistance they need.
First Aid Assistance
While we’re not medical professionals, our volunteers have first aid awareness training and can provide basic first aid.
We’ll call the emergency services when required and stay with people until they arrive.
Our Approach
We offer help to anyone who needs it, without judgment. We are motivated by our Christian faith but our help is given freely to people of all faiths (or none), backgrounds, abilities, ages, nationalities or lifestyles.
