Town Pastors had a first pilot patrol in Leiston on Friday 13th December ahead of full patrols starting in January 2017. The Pastors visited all the pubs to introduce themselves and get to know patrons and publicans alike. Christians in Leiston have joined together to set up the Town Pastors project in response to problems with anti-social behavour and changes to policing with Police Community Support Officers no longer working evenings, when many of the problems arise.
October 2016 Town Pastors awarded Crime Reduction Grant by Police & Crime Commissioner Tim Passmore as 10th Suffolk scheme launches in Leiston, bringing the total to 11 schemes across Suffolk and Norfolk.
