Festival Pastors were in action again throughout the – extremely hot and dusty – Latitude festival which ran at Henham Park from 23rd to 26th July this year, as they have been every year (global pandemics permitting!) since 2011.

Our team of 24 Festival Pastors – including 3 new recruits for this year — were out on patrol in pairs during the days across the campsites and at the entrance gates, and at night in late-night music venues. In both cases they were looking out for people who needed assistance or maybe the encouragement of an energy boost from a packet of sweets or chocolate.
The team gave out about 3000 emergency contact wrist-bands for children and similar numbers of Love Hearts and Freddos. They gave directions and assistance to hundreds of people and, more importantly, took care of more than 20 people who were particularly vulnerable or in need of emotional or other support. And, given the heatwave conditions, they dispensed a fair amount of sun cream too!
Back at base the team from Chaplaincy Lowestoft team helped to provide a safe, reflective and fun space where adults and children engaged in creative activities including face painting and “glitter blessings”.
We’re also grateful for the support of people across East Anglia and beyond who were praying for us and for the festival.
